Homemade Granola Bars

My teenage daughter loves Pinterest just as much as I do.  She confessed that she often visits the site when she's bored or slacking on school work.  Because of Pinterest, many of our conversations have started out like this, "Mommy, I saw this great recipe on Pinterest.  Do you think we could make it this weekend?"

Recently she stumbled upon a homemade granola bar recipe that looked too easy not to make.  This recipe is a great base.  I liked that we were able to play with the ingredients and mix in flavors we both enjoyed.  This recipe is delicious!  I can't wait to make another variation.

Ingredients
2 cups rolled oats
1 cup oat flour(grind rolled oats in food processor until fine)
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
2/3 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup honey
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/3 cup Nutella
1 cup sliced almonds
1 cup raisins

Directions
Preheat the oven to 350°F.  Line an 9 by 9-inch pan with parchment paper.  Lightly coat the parchment paper with a non-stick spray.

Stir together all the dry ingredients, including the fruit and nuts.  In a separate bowl, whisk together the wet ingredients.  Combine with the dry ingredients until the mixture is even.  Spread mixture in the prepared pan.  Press the mixture evenly into the pan.   *Be sure to press the ingredients into the pan, so the bars don't crumble!

Bake the bars for 25 minutes or, until they’re a light golden brown.  Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely.  Cut into bars.

*If you are not a fan of Nutella, almonds or raisins, you can replace them for things you like!

  4. Yum!
How fun for you to have another Pinterester in your family. My family of boys does not see the appeal of the virtual pinboard. But, of course they'll happily eat any pinned item I make for them.
I love that these have Nutella in them. I've got the Costco twin pack in my pantry just waiting to be made into granola bars.
    Sincerely,
    Your bff Teresa
Hey! Since we're best buds now, we should have a bff name.

Are you a little creeped out now? It's okay if you are.
