Dresser Top Tray

The top of my dresser is the least organized spot in the house.  Imagine piles of clutter where everything that doesn't really have a home ends up.  I blame my husband!  He claims not to notice the mess!

This weekend I was determined to keep my dresser clutter free.  After putting things back where they belong, I decided to leave a few items out that my husband uses the most.  I took an old tray purchased at a thrift store and gave it a quick makeover with decorative scrapbook paper and metallic paint.  Once the paint dried, I sealed the top of the tray with Mod Podge.

Everything feels more organized, instead of sitting on top of the dresser I placed a few of his everyday items on the decorative tray.

Having a place for everything makes it much easier for him to find his things.  The clock is ticking on how long this tidy dresser will last. Ha!

  12. Hey Lauren! I found the paper at Hobby Lobby. They had a lot of fun, new designs. To protect the top of the tray from damage, I spread a little Mod Podge in between the tray and paper and another coat on top to seal it. Hope that helps!!

  17. My husband keeps his side of the dresser after me giving him a little leather organizing tray. And, if he doesn't set things in the tray, I can just toss them in and he can find them.

    Your tray is cute.

Stepped in to say hello and wish you a splendid week ahead.

I am afraid like your husband I have clutter on my dressers, mostly books books and more books among the basket with combs and brushes etc. The only difference is, i notice it, though i am yet to do something about it.

    peace.
