Simple Holiday Decorating Ideas

Good morning, friends!  With the holidays right around the corner, I'm joining an incredibly-talented group of bloggers for a Deck The Halls Blog Hop.  I'm so grateful to be included in this diverse group.  We hope to inspire you as you begin your holiday decorating!

My daughter's birthday is the first week of December.  I decided to decorate her room to kick off the season.

I like to keep our holiday decor simple.  I don't have a lot of extra space to store things, so I use natural materials that can be tossed or planted in my yard.

Fresh greenery is the perfect holiday accent.  I love the smell!  Be sure to stop by Home Depot for free tree clippings(they're in a labeled bin by the Christmas trees).

I cut greenery from my yard and mixed in a few tree clippings, to create a free arrangement that will last much longer than flowers.

My mom loved wearing holiday brooches.  After she passed away they were given to me.  I placed one on display from her collection.

A past holiday card from my sister and these adorable wood trees are from Etsy.

A petite tree in an olive bucket for a simple holiday touch.

I decorated the tree with fairy lights and gold-glittered stars.

I created a little spot in her room to enjoy hot chocolate and a classic book.

Our sweet puppy Autumn posing for pictures!

My daughter and I have seen the Nutcracker together every since she was 5.  It's our favorite tradition.

I switched out a couple of her botanical prints with holiday cards from Rifle Paper Co.

The white ruffled pillow covers are from Home Decorators; years ago on clearance.

The gray cover is a recent Pottery Barn purchase.

Thank you so much following along.  Below is the entire list of participating bloggers. Be sure to click through the links to see some amazing inspiration.

One Room Challenge- Guest Bedroom Final Reveal

The past seven weeks just flew by!  But I'm finally finished and today I'm revealing our guest bedroom makeover to you.

I'm so happy how this room came together.

The room is nice and bright now.  I chose a neutral color scheme, layered in with lots of texture.   It's a laid-back space for our guests to rest and relax.

Way back then; when our guest room was our master bedroom, it looked like this.  (Link to our master bedroom now!)

It was so bad!

The dark walls made the room feel dated and even smaller.

I painted the walls Benjamin Moore's Abalone matched to Glidden paint.  The color is so pretty and a great backdrop.

The closet doors are painted with Rustoleum Chalk Board Paint.  It's durable and easy to wipe clean.  I used the same paint on my son and daughter's closet doors too.

I love this chair from Safavieh!  It's sturdy enough to sit on.  The unique design really complements the room.

The art, pillows and blanket at the end of the bed are from Etsy.

I ordered a bunch of accent pillow covers for the bed, but decided to pare it down to a group of three.  The arrangement feels more balanced.  I used three Euro pillows in the back.

I prefer natural fiber rugs.  It's chunky, but thankfully the closet doors still slide over it.

Although our guest room isn't very big, a bedside table was necessary.  A basket provides additional storage for blankets and pillows.

I have plants in every room!  I kept this one alive outside all summer.  Hopefully I can keep it alive inside too!

This bench can also double as a luggage rack.

My husband mounted the television and it looks much better on the wall.

The Netara Planter is from Anthropologie.

I love the shape of these concrete candle holders from McGee & Co; a favorite source of mine.

I gave the headboard a new look with paint.  I used my Finish Max Fine Finish HVLP Sprayer to give it a smooth finish.

I truly hope you guys enjoyed this makeover!  Your blog/Instagram comments meant a lot and encouraged me along the way.  I sincerely appreciate your continued support.  Although stressful at times, I enjoyed the experience and really had a lot of fun.
