I Spray Painted My Outdoor Seat Cushions

Now that the weather is nicer we've been spending a lot more time outdoors.  My husband loves to grill and we've already had a few summer bbqs.  Sounds like fun right?!

Until we noticed our patio cushions.  They were worn and faded, but so expensive to replace.

So I refreshed them with spray paint and new pillow covers.  The updates really transformed our space.

The easy pillow cover tutorial I followed can be found here.

I used one can of spray paint per cushion to achieve a dark-even coat.

The difference is amazing!  Thin coats are key.

It was a simple and affordable weekend project.

I kept wondering what took me so long!

For Sarah

Although I'm missing Haven Blog conference this year for a very good reason, it makes me a sad to think of all the pretty faces I'm going to miss; blogging friends old and new.

When I first attended Haven in 2013 I was scared and intimidated by the crowd.  But there was one familiar face I recognized that made me feel more at ease.

Sarah, Thrifty Decor Chick stood behind the check in counter and greeted me with a smile and a cheery hello.  I immediately felt welcome and comfortable.

She is a constant source of inspiration for me.  She is super laid back and approachable, just like her style.

She shops at Target and Home Goods.  Proof that it doesn't have to be expensive to have a beautiful home.

While some aspects of blogging are still a mystery to me, Sarah's blog is like a breath of fresh air.

She creates.  She inspires others.  She leads by example.

Sarah, thank you for always being so nice.  Thank you for always being so helpful.

You never know who you are going to meet in life and the impact it may have on you.  A warm smile, sincere compliment or a genuine conversation can leave a long lasting impression.

My Potting Bench

I've always wanted a potting bench; a designated place to store plants, soil and tools for my convenience.

I debated purchasing one, then remembered this old bench in the garage not being used.  It was the perfect size to work with, allowing for storage underneath.

No longer in love with my stencil pattern, I decided to cover it up!  Using my paint sprayer made it fast and easy.  I saved money by using leftover exterior paint to match our door.

The trellis compliments the look and adds more storage for tools.

Gardening tools were purchased on clearance at Crate and Barrel.  I found the trellis in the Garden Department at Home Depot.

I'm storing potting soil in a small-metal trash can with lid and scoop.

This metal basket is a great container for bug spray, fertilizer and flower seeds waiting to be planted.

During this time of year my yard can get messy and cluttered with all of my gardening projects.  It feels much better having a place to fill planters and store supplies.

The potting bench is a wonderful addition to my yard.  I saved money by transforming something that I already had.  I hope you're inspired to create your own!
