Meeting Young House Love and Bower Power

Today I am super excited to share with you a bunch of photos from the Young House Love book signing that I recently attended!  After receiving their book in the mail, I was happy to be able to meet them and have my copy of their book signed.

The event was held last Thursday at FLOR here in Atlanta.

I attended the event with my beautiful friend and fellow blogger Erin. If you have a moment, please visit her blog and check out her wedding video.

Lucky for us, Erin works close by and was able to head over early and secure a spot in line for us.

The weather didn't cooperate, but that didn't keep people away.  The line was long, but I knew there would be a lot of people there.  It was so nice to see so many folks come out and support John and Sherry.

I am greatly inspired by Young House Love and Bower Power and wanted to show my appreciation somehow.  They are authentic and consistent on their blogs and make you feel like a friend, even if you haven't had the pleasure of meeting them!

From reading their blogs, I knew how much Sherry and Katie enjoyed decorating with throw pillows.  So I decided to make them felt dahlia pillows.

I tried to choose colors that I thought would work best in their homes.

After finishing the first pillow for John and Sherry, I looked through my stash decided to make an extra pillow for Clara's playroom as well.

I worried about them not liking them and told them they could throw them away if they choose!  But based on their comments and the comments from the people in line around me, I think they'll keep them around. ;)

After waiting in line to meet John and Sherry, we stood in another line to meet Katie, Jeremy and baby Weston.

As soon as I saw Katie I got nervous, but she is so down to earth and so easy to talk to that after a few short seconds I no longer felt anxious.  I went on and on about how much I loved her and how funny she is.

When I gave Katie her pillow, she said she was going to cry.  I begged her not to!  OMG, I didn't want to be the one that made her cry! LOL!

I am so happy I had the opportunity to meet them and share that experience with my friend Erin.

  9. Throw them away!!! wash your mouth out!! NO WAY WOULD THEY DO THAT! Anyone can see you are a perfectionist and these pillows are perfect and truly made with love. Knowing that they had a fan that would take so much time and care to create such a gift I am sure this gift touched their hearts and your pillows will have a place of honor in their home.

GOOD to know you and Erin had a good time. I do remember reading Erin's blog, especially about the broken pipe while on vacation. She too has an eye for creating, You both are very talented and gifted.

  23. Brandi, you are the sweetest thing ever. Who thinks to make pillows when you're going to a book signing?? And to make them colors that would go with their house? I would have cried too. So so so sweet. I'm sure that out of all the people they met at the book signing, they'll always remember their sweet friend Brandi that brought them pillows. What a thrill for both of you. So glad you got to go and meet them, and thanks for sharing the pictures with us!

  49. After seeing a pillow in PB summer coastal display of a "coral reef", I started looking for PB textile hackers on the highways of the internet and took an exit ramp and landed at your address. I really like the dahlia pillow and am wondering if I just traced out the reef and stitched the felt pieces within the tracings that it would work. The beige holiday pillow is stunning also. What did you use for your felt? (I found a local company in Massachusetts that sells quality felt.) After gluing would it be to advisable to handstitch? I will have to get back to PB (and other stores that sell quality napkins) to see what I like. I do have two pretty holiday green napkins that would make up nice with your felt wreath.
Sorry this is so long. (Thank you for your talent.)
