Handmade Gifts

My daughter is very creative.  She writes beautiful stories, is a great problem solver and thinker.  She is the bossiest and most caring big sister to her brother.  I am so proud to be her mom.  There are so many things I want to teach my daughter(my children) in life. I am humbled by the lessons she has taught me.

My daughter wanted to learn how to knit.  After watching countless YouTube videos, she found it would be much easier to learn to knit by using a knitting loom.  So she received a set of knitting looms as a gift.  I tried to learn to knit with her, but instead I ended up with a tangled mess! : )

She's been happily knitting for hours.

So today, I wanted to share with you a few scarves and hats she made.

You can also make creative things by finger knitting.

She's been making gifts for her friends and family.

The simplest gifts bring joy and pleasure.

  2. Good for her! Katie has picked up knitting as well. She is trying to teach herself. My Granny could knit, crochet and sew with the best of them. She tried desperately to teach me, but with me being a lefty and she a righty it was so difficult. Both my girls are lefties too!! I had totally forgotten about finger knitting. I did manage to accomplish a few pieces back in high school that way. It was big thing then.

  4. That is so wonderful. I like to see young ones working with their hands creating things instead of always glued to electronics.

  5. I am so impressed! It sounds like she's a great girl. :) The hats and scarves are amazing and so in style.

My youngest son, who is now 20, is very creative like that. He writes stories, sews, does pottery, paints, draws, etc. He hates to read. Isn't it funny how we are all different and have neat gifts.

  21. Brandi your daughter was a beautiful little girl and now she's a beautiful teen. She did a great job! my mom tried to teach me to knit...can you say hot mess!! I was really bad at it. My daughter learned to knit and crochet from watching you tube videos too. I guess talent skips a generation sometimes LOL.

  23. I LOVE to see youngsters release their creativity!!! And the fact that she is sharing her talent through gifts to family and friends is even better!!! My sister knits, but I - like you! - end up with nothing but a pile of tangled yarn when I try. I'm good at a lot of things, but knitting, crocheting, sewing, quilting, and anything else that involves a needle...not my thing!!! Kudos to your daughter, and Happy New Year!

  28. She did a fantastic job! When our little Monkey was born, I decided that since I was now a Granna that I needed to learn to knit. Ummm....it was an epic fail. I've had my eye on the looms for sometime and wondered if they would be the key to success for me. I just received one to make socks so we'll see how it goes. :)

  33. It's amazing how much we can learn from each other. Your daughter is very good at loom knitting. I found a new set at a thrift shop and thought I would jump right in and use it, but I never got into it. Please tell your daughter that her work is simply amazing!
