Scented Pine Cones

I love filling the air with fall scents around the house.

Earlier this week, I purchased a bunch of home fragrance oils from Bath and Body Works to use in my oil warmer.  I was so anxious to try them all that I started thinking of other ways to use them to scent the house.

As I was walking around with the dogs today, I noticed a bunch of pine cones on the ground and suddenly, the light bulb inside my head went off and I thought...scented pine cones!

After cleaning them off a bit, I placed a few drops of oil on each cone and set them in my tobacco basket along with a few mini pumpkins for a sweet-smelling fall display.

What are your favorite tips for making your house smell all warm and cozy?

Great idea, I love scented oils also....I'm hooked on a brand that I purchase from Michael's. I'll have to check out Bath and Body works.

I love scented oils too! I also like to combine orange peels with a cinnamon stick and fresh rosemary with water and simmer on the stove it smells so divine.

Great idea, and not nearly as expensive as buying them pre-scented. PLUS you get the scents YOU want instead of having to just buy whatever is available! I like to simmer spices on the stove for scent sometimes. It keeps the house warm with the stove on AND provides a wonderful smell. I also like to make potpourri using fresh whole spices. I think I'll mix in some pine cones now! :-)

What a great idea! I have some pinecones just waiting for a project like that. And of course I love the look of the pinecones and gourds in a pretty basket. What scents our upstairs are my homemade soaps curing. But I'm going to use some of my essential oils to scent pinecones as well! Thanks for the idea. :-)

I really appreciate it!

Great idea! A lot cheaper than purchasing them. I like to simmer fruit & spices in my mini crockpot (the one only used for this!). That way I can move it around the house if I want.

What a lovely idea, Brandi! I've purchased pine cones at Christmastime that were cinnamon scented, but fall is a perfect time to decorate with the lovely cones as well. I like how they look paired with your mini-pumpkins in the pretty basket.
